Physical use
Licorice root, when made into a tea, becomes viscous. This acts as a surface anti-inflammatory, sooting gut ulcers or thrush. It is also a mild laxative especially if constipation is caused by stress or hormone changes. Combined with Peony it helps to reduce androgen excess supporting conversion of testosterone to oestrogen. When you have a chesty wet cough, it helps to draw out the mucus from your lungs, while also soothing your throat.
